Butoh dance

Dancing the moment

Butoh Dance is an avantgarde soul dance, born in Japan during the fifties by Kazuo Ohno and Tatsumi Hijikata as a rebellion. In its nature which denies any definition, Butoh draw its varied expression from an uncompromising and direct journey into the depth of the soul and brings to an extreme, along peak introversion, a world of magic and ceremonies, a presence of contrast and ecstasy. The dance and the space are at one presence, kept in climax, beyond time.

we voluntarily leave the supposed safety of our accelerated everyday life and let ourself into unknown worlds in the slowness of small eternities.Because slowness is something universal, we’ve just gotten used it, even devalued as a meritocracy. Thanks to conscious reduction and mindfulness, we became wide awake even for inconspicuous nuances.Thinking recedes into the background and makes way for deeper, quiet qualities. We dive into the microcosm of the body and into the endless expanse of the soul landscape. An authentic slow motion dance is created, a meditative movement journey to yourself. The liberating aspect of moving from darkness to light is a major concern.A dance of life that is not afraid to explore it’s own dark side in dance. Through these process to discover the free and wholesome in the human being.
